CATALAN GP QUALIFYING : LÓPEZ AND VIETTI TO START FROM FOURTH AND FIFTH ROW

The qualifying session for the Catalan GP has just concluded. López will start tomorrow from the fourth row, while Vietti will start from the fifth.

Great start for Celestino: in FP2 he clocked a 1’42.132, finishing the session in third position. In Q1, the Italian rider had set an excellent 1’41.780, a time that would have been the fastest of the session, but the lap was canceled due to track limits. With a valid time of 1’42.135, number 13 still finished third and advanced to Q2. There, a crash at Turn 5 affected his final attempts, ultimately finishing in 15th position (1’42.210). Tomorrow he will start from the fifth row.

A different strategy for Alonso: in the last free practice session, he focused on race pace and never returned to the pits, finishing twentieth with a 1’43.010. In Q2, despite an error at the end that took him off track, López managed a 1’42.024 to secure 11th place and thus the fourth row on the grid.

“Overall, a positive day. We made a good step forward from yesterday and improved both our lap time and pace. It’s a pity that in Q2, when I put on new tires, I couldn’t complete a single lap. That’s why we start from the fifth row. Tomorrow it will be important to manage the front tire and try to recover as much as possible”.
