SAN MARINO GP: VIETTI DA RECORD CHIUDE AL COMANDO IL DAY1, LÓPEZ CENTRA LA Q2 

Nella giornata di apertura del weekend di casa, Celestino Vietti firma il nuovo record della pista e si prende la vetta della classifica. Buona prova anche per Alonso López, che chiude il Day1 del San Marino GP in P11 e conquista l’accesso diretto alla Q2 di domani.

Il pilota di Ciriè ha iniziato con il passo giusto già in FP1, centrando il quarto tempo (1’35.323) e dimostrando subito grande confidenza con la sua Boscoscuro e con questo tracciato. Nel pomeriggio Vietti ha poi messo in mostra il suo potenziale: al termine del secondo pit stop, a meno di cinque minuti dalla bandiera a scacchi, ha sfruttato al meglio i suoi ultimi giri lanciati fermando il cronometro su un brillante 1’34.650. Nuovo record della pista, che gli è valso il primo posto e dunque l’accesso diretto alle Q2.

Alonso ha lavorato con costanza nel corso di tutta la giornata. Dopo il tredicesimo posto in FP1 (1’35.785), lo spagnolo ha migliorato in Practice, conquistando l’undicesimo tempo in 1’35.173 e assicurandosi anche lui il pass per le Q2 di domani.

“Oggi, passo dopo passo, siamo riusciti a migliorare il feeling con la moto. L’ undicesimo posto mi permette di accedere direttamente alle Q2, e questo era l’obiettivo principale della giornata. Ora abbiamo una base solida dalla quale partire: sappiamo dove intervenire per compiere un ulteriore passo avanti e sono fiducioso che domani potremo essere più competitivi”.

“Sono contento perché nelle ultime gare abbiamo fatto dei piccoli passi avanti e siamo riusciti a ridurre un po’ il gap dai primi. Anche oggi lo abbiamo confermato e quindi sono soddisfatto; inoltre è una pista che conosco bene grazie ai tanti allenamenti e questo è un motivo in più per fare bene. Ci sono ancora due o tre aspetti da migliorare, ma direi che siamo sulla strada giusta. Ora dobbiamo rimanere concentrati per fare una buona qualifica”.

On the opening day of the home weekend, Celestino Vietti set a new lap record and took the top spot on the timesheets. A solid performance also from Alonso López, who closed Day 1 of the San Marino GP in P11, gaining direct access to tomorrow’s Q2.

The rider from Ciriè started off on the right foot already in FP1, setting the fourth fastest time (1’35.323) and immediately showing great confidence with his Boscoscuro and with this track. In the afternoon, Vietti then showcased his potential: after his second pit stop, with less than five minutes remaining, he made the most of his final flying laps, stopping the clock at a brilliant 1’34.650. A new lap record, which earned him first place and therefore direct access to Q2.

Alonso worked consistently throughout the day. After finishing FP1 in thirteenth place (1’35.785), the Spaniard improved in Practice, claiming the eleventh fastest time with a 1’35.173 and also securing direct access to tomorrow’s Q2.

“Today, step by step, we managed to improve the feeling with the bike. The eleventh place allowed me to go straight into Q2, and that was the main goal of the day. Now we have a solid base to build from: we know where to intervene to make another step forward, and I’m confident that tomorrow we can be more competitive”.

“I’m happy because in the last few races we’ve made small steps forward and managed to close the gap a little to the leaders. Today we confirmed that again, so I’m satisfied; also, it’s a track I know well thanks to a lot of training, which is another reason to do well. There are still two or three aspects to improve, but I’d say we’re on the right path. Now we just need to stay focused to have a good qualifying”.
