#IDNGP – INDONESIAN GP: BOTH BETA TOOLS SPEEDRS TEAM RIDERS MISS OUT ON PROVISIONAL Q2
Just a few days after the Japanese Grand Prix, the Beta Tools SpeedRS Team returned to the track at the Mandalika International Circuit for the opening day of the Indonesian Grand Prix. It was a challenging Friday for Celestino Vietti and Luca Lunetta, as neither rider secured direct entry into tomorrow’s Q2.
The morning session offered some encouraging signs, particularly for Vietti, who finished ninth in Free Practice with a time of 1’33.315. Lunetta ended the session in twentieth place with a 1’33.890, aiming to improve his pace in the afternoon Practice.
However, the afternoon session proved more challenging for both riders. The rider from Turin struggled to find the right feeling to be competitive and finished the session in twenty-second position with a time of 1’33.226, missing out on direct qualification for the second stage of qualifying.
Lunetta showed a strong feeling with the Indonesian circuit from the opening laps, initially climbing to tenth position with a time of 1’33.189. However, a lengthy red flag caused by technical issues involving Race Control interrupted the session. When the track action resumed, with twelve minutes remaining, a technical problem with his bike prevented him from returning to the track and improving his lap time. The rookie therefore finished Practice in twenty-first position.
CELESTINO VIETTI #13: P22 – 1’33.226
“It has been a difficult day. We haven’t managed to find the right feeling, and now we need to analyse the data to understand where we can make improvements ahead of tomorrow. Having to go through Q1 is certainly not our goal, but we’ll give it our all to get through and secure a place in Q2”.
LUCA LUNETTA #32: P21 – 1’33.189
“Friday is over, but unfortunately not in the best way. I felt strong and competitive during Practice, found a good feeling with the bike straight away, and managed to be incisive. It’s a shame that the technical issues prevented us from continuing our work, because we had the potential to fight for direct entry into Q2. Now we need to focus on tomorrow, work well with the team in the garage, and approach Q1 in the best possible way”.
