MALAYSIAN GP: CHALLENGING DAY FOR THE SYNC SPEEDRS TEAM, BOTH RIDERS MISS OUT ON DIRECT Q2 ACCESS
The SpeedRS Team, which for this occasion dons the Sync colors, tackles the final overseas round of the season at the Sepang International Circuit. Just a few days after the race in Australia, the team returned to the track for the opening day of the Malaysian Grand Prix, where both riders were unable to gain direct access to Q2.
Celestino Vietti, winner of the Malaysian race in 2024 after a recovery period from injury, faced some difficulties today. After a strong start in FP1 with the sixth fastest time of 2’04.644, the number 13 of the Sync SpeedRS Team couldn’t improve in the Practice session. With a best lap of 2’05.201, Vietti finished in P23 and will have to go through Q1 tomorrow to fight for a spot in the final qualifying session.
Alonso López also had a demanding day. Despite making progress compared to the morning session, which he finished in P24 (2’05.831), his best lap in Practice (2’05.175 – P22) wasn’t enough to place him inside the top 14 and secure direct access to tomorrow’s Q2.
ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 22nd – 2’05.175
“In the morning I struggled to find the rhythm, but in the afternoon we managed to make a small step forward. We’re still missing something to be truly competitive, but the feeling is improving and I’m confident that in Q1 we can do a good job and fight to enter Q2”.
CELESTINO VIETTI #13: 23rd – 2’05.201
“It wasn’t an easy Friday. In FP1 I felt quite good, but in the afternoon we struggled to find the right feeling. We’re working to understand what changed, and I’m confident that with a few adjustments we can make an important step forward”.
