DAY1 CATALAN GP: LÓPEZ CENTRA LA Q2, VIETTI COSTRETTO A PASSARE DALLA Q1

Prima giornata di prove libere sotto il sole catalano che si conclude con un dodicesimo e un ventesimo posto per i piloti del Beta Tools SpeedRS Team. Domani López accederà direttamente alla Q2, mentre Vietti dovrà prima affrontare il primo turno di qualifiche.

Il numero 21 ha iniziato le FP1 con il setting standard, per poi lavorare su diverse modifiche nel corso della sessione. Grazie a un giro in 1’42.684 ha chiuso in P10. Nel pomeriggio, durante il secondo run, Alonso è riuscito a fermare il cronometro in 1’42.417, tempo che gli è valso il dodicesimo posto a soli +0.224 dal leader della prova. Un margine minimo che gli ha garantito l’accesso diretto alla Q2 di domani. 

Buon avvio di giornata anche per Vietti, autore di un 1’42.729 con cui aveva chiuso le FP1 in dodicesima posizione. Nella Practice, però, il numero 13 ha visto sfumare le possibilità di entrare nei primi quattordici a causa di un errore e di una bandiera gialla che hanno compromesso gli ultimi due tentativi. Vietti ha così concluso la giornata in ventesima posizione con il crono di 1’42.866 e domani passarà prima dalla Q1.

ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 12° in 1’42.417

“È stata una buona prima giornata di prove qui a Barcellona. Questa mattina siamo partiti bene e ho trovato subito un buon feeling con la moto. Il dodicesimo posto ci permette di accedere direttamente alla Q2 di domani; sarà importante continuare a lavorare per fare una buona qualifica”.

CELESTINO VIETTI #13: 20° in 1’42.866

“Questa mattina abbiamo fatto un buon turno, con un buon ritmo e mi sono trovato subito a bene con la moto. Nel pomeriggio sono riuscito a migliorare ancora qualche dettaglio e abbiamo completato un bel long run, che sarà utile per la gara. Ho commesso un errore nel giro buono e, successivamente, ci sono state due bandiere gialle, quindi siamo fuori dalla Q2. Siamo tutti molto vicini e dobbiamo concentrarci sugli aspetti positivi: non essendo passati direttamente in Q2, avremo 15 minuti in più per capire meglio il limite della moto e poi tentare il passaggio alla Q2”.

CATALAN GP DAY1: LÓPEZ MAKES IT TO Q2, VIETTI FORCED TO GO THROUGH Q1

The first day of free practice under the Catalan sun ended with a twelfth and twentieth place for the Beta Tools SpeedRS Team riders. Tomorrow, López will go directly into Q2, while Vietti will have to first compete in the opening qualifying session.

Rider #21 started FP1 with the standard setup and then worked on several modifications throughout the session. Thanks to a lap of 1’42.684, he finished in P10. In the afternoon, during the second run, Alonso managed to stop the clock at 1’42.417, a time that earned him twelfth place, just +0.224 off the top. A very small margin that secured him direct access to Q2 tomorrow.

A good start to the day also for Vietti, who set a 1’42.729 to end FP1 in twelfth place. In the Practice session, however, rider #13 saw his chances of entering the top fourteen vanish due to a mistake and a yellow flag, which compromised his final two attempts. Vietti thus finished the day in twentieth place with a time of 1’42.866 and will have to go through Q1 tomorrow.

ALONSO LÓPEZ #21: 12th in 1’42.417
“It was a good first day of practice here in Barcelona. This morning we started well, and I immediately felt comfortable on the bike. Twelfth place allows us to go directly into Q2 tomorrow; it will be important to keep working to have a strong qualifying session”.

CELESTINO VIETTI #13: 20th in 1’42.866
“This morning we had a good session with a solid pace, and I immediately felt comfortable on the bike. In the afternoon, I was able to improve a few details and we completed a good long run, which will be useful for the race. I made a mistake on my fast lap, and then there were two yellow flags, so we are out of Q2. Everyone is very close, so we need to focus on the positives: not going directly into Q2 gives us 15 extra minutes to better understand the bike’s limits and then attempt to pass into Q2”.
