Caldo torrido e condizioni estreme non fermano il Sync Group SpeedRS Team nelle qualifiche del Thai GP. Celestino Vietti partirà dalla seconda fila dello schieramento, mentre Luca Lunetta scatterà dalla settima fila alla sua prima gara nella categoria intermedia.

La giornata si è aperta con i 40 minuti di prove mattutine, che Vietti ha sfruttato per lavorare su diverse soluzioni di set-up della Boscoscuro, chiudendo la sessione in nona posizione con il tempo di 1’35.169. In Q2 il numero 13 ha poi alzato il ritmo e, nel secondo run lanciato, nonostante una bandiera gialla nell’ultimo giro che gli ha impedito di migliorarsi, ha fermato il cronometro sull’1’34.746 conquistando così il quinto tempo della sessione.

Weekend in costante progressione per Lunetta. Dopo una FP2 chiusa in P24 (1’35.828), il numero 32 ha affrontato la Q1 con determinazione. Il miglior tempo in 1’35.188 lo ha visto sfiorare l’accesso alla Q2, garantendogli comunque la settima fila di partenza per la gara.

CELESTINO VIETTI #13: 5° in 1’34.746

“Giornata positiva, è stato davvero un buon sabato. Questa mattina abbiamo fatto diverse prove: alcune soluzioni ci sono piaciute, altre meno, ma ci hanno dato indicazioni chiare sulla direzione da seguire. Nel pomeriggio abbiamo ottenuto una buona qualifica; le condizioni erano più difficili rispetto agli altri giorni per il caldo maggiore, quindi non è stato semplice, ma abbiamo gestito tutto al meglio. Peccato per l’ultimo giro con la bandiera gialla: non sono riuscito a migliorare e il potenziale per fare ancora meglio c’era. Partire dalla seconda fila è un buon risultato. Domani sarà fondamentale gestire la gara, perché il caldo e il fattore gomme renderanno tutto più impegnativo. Grazie a tutta la squadra!”.

LUCA LUNETTA #32: 20° in 1’35.188

“Sono contento di come è andata la giornata. Nel pomeriggio abbiamo fatto un grande passo avanti rispetto alla FP2 del mattino. A livello di guida ho migliorato molto con le gomme usate e questo ci ha permesso di essere abbastanza veloci in Q1; per meno di un decimo non siamo riusciti a passare in Q2. Sono comunque molto soddisfatto, perché abbiamo ridotto il gap dai primi, che era l’obiettivo principale. Domani ci aspetta una gara tosta a causa del caldo, ma non vedo l’ora che si spengano i semafori”.

SECOND ROW FOR VIETTI IN THAI GP QUALIFYING, LUNETTA 20TH ON THE GRID

Scorching heat and extreme conditions did not stop the Sync Group SpeedRS Team in qualifying for the Thai GP. Celestino Vietti will start from the second row of the grid, while Luca Lunetta will line up on the seventh row for his first race in the intermediate class.

The day began with the 40-minute morning practice session, which Vietti used to work on different setup solutions for his Boscoscuro bike, finishing ninth with a time of 1’35.169. In Q2, the number #13 raised his pace and, on his second flying run, despite a yellow flag on his final lap that prevented him from improving, he stopped the clock at 1’34.746: fifth fastest overall and second row on the grid.

A weekend of steady progress for Lunetta. After finishing FP2 in P24 (1’35.828), the #32 rider tackled Q1 with determination. His best time of 1’35.188 saw him narrowly miss out on a place in Q2, but it still secured him a seventh-row start for the race.

“It was a positive day, a really good Saturday. This morning we tried several solutions: some worked well, others less so, but they gave us clear direction on where to go. In the afternoon we achieved a good qualifying result; the conditions were more difficult than on previous days because of the higher temperatures, so it wasn’t easy, but we managed everything in the best way possible. It’s a shame about the last lap with the yellow flag: I couldn’t improve and there was potential to do even better. Starting from the second row is a good result. Tomorrow it will be crucial to manage the race, because the heat and tyre management will make everything more demanding. Thanks to the whole team!”.

“I’m happy with how the day went. In the afternoon we made a big step forward compared to FP2 in the morning. In terms of riding, I improved a lot on used tyres and that allowed us to be quite competitive in Q1; we missed Q2 by less than a tenth. I’m still very satisfied because we reduced the gap to the front runners, which was our main objective. Tomorrow will be a tough race due to the heat, but I can’t wait for the lights to go out”.
