Il Team SpeedRS è tornato in pista all’Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello per il settimo appuntamento del Campionato Mondiale Moto2, in un weekend speciale che vede i piloti scendere in pista con i colori di MB Conveyors.

Il venerdì toscano si è aperto con condizioni meteo particolarmente complicate. La pioggia caduta nelle prime ore del mattino ha costretto i piloti a iniziare il lavoro con pneumatici rain, mentre l’asfalto ha iniziato ad asciugarsi solamente negli ultimi minuti delle FP1. Una situazione che ha limitato il lavoro di entrambe le squadre nella prima sessione.

Nonostante le condizioni miste, Celestino Vietti ha mostrato subito un ottimo feeling, chiudendo la sessione inaugurale in quarta posizione con il tempo di 1’54.801. Con il ritorno del sole e la pista completamente asciutta, il numero 13 ha poi confermato tutto il proprio potenziale nella Practice del pomeriggio. Forte del lavoro svolto nei recenti test di Barcellona, Vietti ha fermato il cronometro in 1’49.420, siglando il nuovo record della pista del Mugello. Un risultato che gli vale il primo posto di giornata e l’accesso diretto alla Q2 di domani.

Buon avvio di weekend anche per Luca Lunetta. Il rookie italiano si è distinto nelle difficili condizioni del mattino, chiudendo le FP1 in ottava posizione con il crono di 1’56.686. Più complessa invece la sessione pomeridiana per il numero 32, impegnato per la prima volta sul tecnico e impegnativo tracciato toscano in sella alla Moto2. Lunetta ha concluso il venerdì in ventunesima posizione, rimanendo momentaneamente escluso dalla Q2 provvisoria.

CELESTINO VIETTI #13: P1 in 1’49.420

“È stato un bellissimo venerdì. Siamo partiti bene già stamattina, anche con la pista chiazzata, e siamo stati veloci con entrambe le mescole. Ho avuto un buon feeling fin da subito e abbiamo lavorato bene durante tutta la giornata. Domani dovremo concentrarci e lavorare sul passo gara e dare il massimo per restare nelle prime posizioni, ma siamo sicuramente sulla strada giusta”. 

LUCA LUNETTA #32: P21 in 1’50.816

“È stata una giornata un po’ strana, condizionata dalle condizioni climatiche. La mattina siamo partiti con la pista bagnata e abbiamo montato le slick solo a fine turno: questo ci ha permesso di chiudere in top 10, anche se è stata una sessione poco indicativa. Gli ultimi due giri sono stati fatti con pista ancora chiazzata, quindi abbiamo raccolto pochi dati in condizioni di asciutto. Il primo vero turno è stato quello del pomeriggio, anche perché era la mia prima volta con la Moto2. Ho girato tanto da solo per capire dove migliorare e su cosa lavorare, e devo dire che ora ho le idee più chiare in vista di domani e dei prossimi giorni. Il team sta lavorando bene, mi sto divertendo sulla moto e speriamo di fare bene davanti al pubblico di casa”.

VIETTI SETS TRACK RECORD AND TOPS FRIDAY AT THE ITALIAN GP

The SpeedRS Team returned to action at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello for the seventh round of the Moto2 World Championship, during a special weekend in which the riders are racing in MB Conveyors colors.

Friday in Tuscany began under particularly challenging weather conditions. Rain that fell in the early hours of the morning forced the riders to start working on rain tyres, while the track only began to dry in the final minutes of FP1. This situation limited both teams’ work during the first session.

Despite the mixed conditions, Celestino Vietti immediately showed strong feeling, ending the opening session in fourth position with a time of 1’54.801. With the return of sunshine and a fully dry track in the afternoon Practice session, the #13 rider confirmed his full potential. Building on the work carried out during the recent Barcelona tests, Vietti stopped the clock at 1’49.420, setting a new Mugello track record. This result earned him first place on the day and direct access to tomorrow’s Q2.

A solid start to the weekend as well for Luca Lunetta. The Italian rookie stood out in the difficult morning conditions, finishing FP1 in eighth position with a lap time of 1’56.686. The afternoon session proved more challenging for the #32 rider, who was experiencing the demanding Tuscan circuit on a Moto2 bike for the first time. Lunetta ended Friday in 21st position, currently missing out on provisional Q2 qualification.

“It was a very good Friday. We started well this morning even on a patchy track, and we were fast on both compounds. I had a good feeling right away and we worked well throughout the day. Tomorrow we’ll need to focus on race pace and push to stay at the front, but we are definitely on the right path”.

LUCA LUNETTA #32: P21 in 1’50.816
“It was a strange day, heavily affected by the weather conditions. In the morning we started on a wet track and only switched to slicks at the end of the session: that allowed us to finish in the top 10, even though it wasn’t very representative. The last two laps were done with a still patchy track, so we collected little data in dry conditions. The real session was in the afternoon, also because it was my first time on the Moto2 bike here. I did a lot of laps alone to understand where I can improve, and I have a clearer idea now for tomorrow and the next few days. The team is working well, I’m enjoying the bike, and we hope to do well in front of the home crowd”.
